The Best Day Of My Life... Seriously.

    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh my god.
    Oh. My. GOD!

Well. Today was a fucking LEGEND of a day. It began with waking up at eight and getting ready for going out... I got all nice and ready, but, I then remembered.. You know, if you're going somewhere too far away too walk, you may need a ride. And my dad was still asleep. Argheh. So, I woke him up, hurried him up, and off we went to the wild badlands of Ely. We drove to the station, he dropped me off, I left my coat in the car. I bought a ticket... Aw, you don't want to hear this, do you? You want to know why it was such a fucking leg end of a day. Well, maybe you don't... But mnerh.

So... The reason it fucking kicked all other days' butts all over the shop - any shop you like, it doesn't matter.. Heck, ALL of them! - was that I MET ARCTIC MONKEYS!! AND MAXIMO FUCKING PARK!!! AND WE ARE SCIENTISTS!!!  AND MYSTERY JETS!!! Aw, geez, since when did rock stars become so nice? Well, Arctic Monkeys were a bit quiet, but they're still kids themselves, so I forgive them completely. Aw, but Paul Smith (Maximo Park) is sooo incredibly, amazingly, awesomely nice. Quite cute in real life, too. I mean, you look at posters and he really doesn't look too special, but in real life, he seems more... Well, real. Could I have a crush on Paul Smith? Aw, but he is so nice. We were standing out in the street for hours and hours - and I mean literally -, we even set up camp in a little alcove and went to get lunch. Well, me and Charlotte went to get lunch. It was rather funny... We went to Starbuck's for a couple of coffees and cakes, and then we went to Burger King, because Charlotte and I were feeling more like eating some good, solid junk food. We ordered this stuff - two kid's meals, cheeseburger and chicken nuggets, in case you were wondering - and dawned on me: how were we going to carry all this stuff? We worked it out, eventually. I stacked up the coffees under my chin, letting the sweet, hot liquid run all over my arms and neck in the process, and carried the box with the cakes, and Charlotte carried the other food. It worked, nearly, but then I decided I wanted to buy the Big Issue. I always buy it. Well, nearly always. So anyway, then we had another dilemma. but that was solved easily enough. I shifted stuff a bit, and it worked out ok. Only there was coffee all over my arms and chin, but I got over it. So we sat down and had lunch and then Jo and Harry arrived. Then we just talked for a while, to pass the time, and Lucy, Al, Jo and Charlotte went for a walk and bumped into Paul Smith! Oh yes, this was where the story started, wasn't it? Ack random tangent.. But anyway, he was so friendly and we had a chat. He told us to meet him back there at 2:30 and he'd let us come into soundcheck! So we hung around for a while, saw Cookie (Arctic Monkeys). He wasn't very chatty, as I remember. But he WAS still in his pajamas... I know!! We saw an Arctic Monkey in his pajamas!! We are sooo rock 'n' roll. He let us come and sit in on his soundcheck, only it was more like a tiny gig.. JUST FOR US!!! He even let us pick a song for them to play! He did a request!! And what did we - well, Charlotte really - choose? A nice, easy song, on the album, that everyone would know? No! We chose "Wasteland", a song off a charity compilation which very few people actually know... And yet, THEY FUCKING WELL PLAYED IT!! Really!! Aaand, as if that wasn't enough, about half-way through this performance, I noticed the 'Monkeys' drumer, Matt Helders sitting and drumming on his snare near the stage! Like, omfg! Also, Alex and Andy kept walking back and forth past us. Which was rather excellent... So, anyway, yeah, that was awersome, and yet Jo and Harry didn't smile at all.. It was quite worrying.. And then, after that soundcheck, we were shooed out and we stood in the street again.

So there we were, waiting for Arctic Monkeys to come back out so they could sign us, as they actually said they were going to do! And after a while, they came out and their manager told us to give him what we wanted signing so he could take the items into them... Er, why they couldn't sign them out there, in the cold and wet, I may never know, but we gave up our stuff, including Lu's shoe. And then, about five minutes later, he came out again, with the signed stuff, and said "You're very lucky". We all thought he was going to say "Now piss off.". But he didn't! no! He said, "They've asked if you want to come in and see the soundcheck." So we said, "Nah mate, we're alright.".. Yeah, because that DOES sound believable... So anyway, we tried to contain our excitement and went inside (again). We were in the same room as Arctic Monkeys!!! All four of them! Oh my god they rock! And the scary thing was, I was just thinking how cool it would be if they played "Perhaps Vampires Is A Bit Strong But...", as that is my favourite song by them, because the whole rhythm the flow, the drumming of it is just... Grrrr! Fucking excellent... And they did!! We have a like, mental link... Or something. And they also palyed songs that we had never heard before, which was rather cool... During this little soundcheck, Mystery Jets walked in and William said hi to me... Which was rather cool.

So then we were kicked out again and we met Harry's friend James and ranted about how excellent Maximo Park and Arctic Monkeys are and then walked off to HMV, where Mystery Jets were playing an acoustic set. Which was really good! Despite the fact that we had to wait for ages. But we chatted to the bouncers/security/whatever you want to call them, so that was ok. We also waited in the morning, out side HMV for aaages, cause we thought we had to buy a ticket. We didn't. Waste of a couple of hours. But at least we kept ourselves occupied with constructive thnigs. Like throwing my bag around... My kohl is now broken, by the way.. But apart from that, we did nothing. Oooh, except Charlotte went off to buy cookies. Which we happily devoured. Aw wow, but Mystery Jets are sooo amazing and cool! And so friendly! William's cute too. Which is always a good thing.

Hehe, you're lucky that I'm blogging this about 324098234 years (four days) after it actually happened. Otherwise this blog would just be a mess of exclaimation marks, swear words and capita.. *looks up* Ah. Well, never mind that then.

    Fucking amazing day, in all.

Oh yeah! Also, and various points in the day (Can't remember exactly when), we met Chris and Keith from We Are Scientists. They are fucking legends and they deserve anything and everything they ask for, with interest. Also a medal. A real one. No crappy tinfoil doohickeys.

    Yeah, great day...

I'm trying to find pictures to put up... But our connection is being a poo... So bear with me and they should be up in a couple of days... Courtesy of Lucy's camera!
